Bio-inspired design and synthesis of fluorescent molecules: Coumarin-β-carboline hybrids as models

Abstract Novel fluorescence based coumarin- β –carboline hybrids were designed and synthesized using conventional approach with good yield and purity. All the synthesized compounds were identified by their spectral data. Fluorescence and life-time studies have been carried out for coumarin-β-carbolines which was compared with individual scorpion fluorescence molecules of β-carboline-3-carboxylic acid and 7-hydroxy-4-methyl coumarin.
