Role of neutron excess in the projectile for the production of heavy neutron-rich nuclei

To shed light on the conditions for synthesizing some new heavy neutron-rich nuclei using multinucleon transfer reactions, the reaction systems Ca40+Pb208, Ni58+Pb208, Ar40+Pb208, Ni64+Pb208, and Xe136+Pb208 are investigated within improved dinuclear system (DNS) model+gemini++. The transfer cross sections are calculated and compared with existing experimental data. The calculated results are in good agreement with available data. One found the projectiles are changed from the neutron-deficient Ca40 and Ni58 to moderately neutron-rich Ar40, and neutron-rich Ni64 and Xe136 projectiles on Pb208 target, the transfer flux its trend gradually evolves from proton stripping and neutron pickup to the proton pickup and neutron stripping and pickup (pickup and stripping are referring to the projectilelike fragment).
