Abstract
The temperature conditions of sintering of corundum ceramics affect the rate of subsequent metallization and the catalytic activity of metallized high-porosity cellular material. The process of chemical silvering of the material under study from a solution containing (g L–1): 2 silver nitrate, 54 glucose, and 1,5-oxyethylidene diphosphonic acid, as complexing ligand, was developed. The influence of the velocity of electrolyte flow on the uniformity of metal distribution within the high-porosity cellular material was determined. A technology was developed for the surface pretreatment of corundum ceramics before metallization, including degreasing with white spirit, etching in a mixture of hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids, and palladium activation, which makes it possible to obtain continuous, fine-crystalline coatings with good adhesion and high catalytic activity.
