Multifunctional cyanine dyes: Multimodal imaging agents can be built up based on an asymmetric cyanine dye connecting the radionuclide and targeting unit. Insertion of a cyanine dye into the clinically approved radiopharmaceutical 68Ga‐DOTATATE allowed the identification of cancer tissue in vivo and ex vivo by using radionuclear and fluorescence imaging.
