Creep deformation and rupture time evaluation for Ti43Al5V4Nb at 1033 K using the θ-projection method

ABSTRACT In this study, the creep rupture time and creep properties of Ti43Al5V4Nb were evaluated at 1033 K (760°C), which was the designed maximum usage temperature for the material. A titanium–aluminium alloy with added V and Nb elements displayed higher elongation at a higher temperature than at lower temperatures. Almost all creep strain curves for Ti43Al5V4Nb consisted of tertiary stage creep. In this study, a numerical analysis method was adopted to investigate the creep properties. The creep strain curve was precisely determined using the θ-projection method when experimental data, until a life ratio of 0.9, were used to calculate the θ-parameters. The predicted creep rupture and creep strain occurrence times obtained using the θ-projection method showed good agreement with the experimental results.
