Star-critical Ramsey numbers involving graphs with long suspended paths

Abstract For graphs F , G and H , let F → ( G , H ) signify that any red/blue edge coloring of F contains a red G or a blue H . The star-critical Ramsey number R S ( G , H ) = max { n | K r ∖ K 1 , n → ( G , H ) } , where r = R ( G , H ) . In this note, it is shown that R S ( G , H n ) = n + O ( 1 ) for fixed G and H as n → ∞ , where H n is a graph of order n obtained from H by lengthening an edge to a path, each internal vertex of which has degree two. In addition, we determine the values of R S ( K 1 , m , P n ) , R S ( K 1 , m , C n ) , R S ( B m , P n ) and R S ( F m , P n ) for large n .
