Assessment of the Low-Temperature Strength of Metals by Indentation with Analysis of Acoustic Emission

Abstract

Impact flexure and indentation of metals is considered. A test bench for failure assessment is developed, for the example of steel 45 at low temperatures. In this method, acoustic emission pulses are classified; an artificial neural network is employed. The fractographic data for impact flexure correlate well with the results of pulse recognition.
