Data-driven technology for prognostics and health management of the cable system at a railway control centre: investigation of the insulation resistance of a cable system under the influence of moisture

A measuring instrument is used to measure the insulation resistance of a cable system at a railway control centre. Moreover, online weather data is available as the source of data such as the relative humidity. A data-driven technology can be used for signal detection, signal estimation and signal forecasting. The meaningful characteristics of the data can be extracted by an algorithm so that a relationship is established between the insulation resistance of the cable and the relative humidity. In this way, the remaining lifetime of a cable can be predicted based on the previously observed values.
