Optical and near-infrared luminescence studies of Nd3+- doped CsGd(MoO4)2 crystals

Abstract Neodymium-doped (Nd3+) CsGd(MoO4)2 crystals were grown by the low-thermal-gradient Czochralski technique for the first time. NIR photoluminescence (PL) spectra were measured for Nd3+ doped CsGd(MoO4)2 crystals at 77-300K temperature range. Emission band near 900nm corresponding to 4F3/2→4I9/2 transitions in neodymium-doped CsGd(MoO4)2 crystals and 1060nm band of 4F3/2→4I11/2 transitions were observed. Decay curves were obtained for the energy levels 4F3/2 of Nd3+ in CsGd(MoO4)2 crystals and lifetimes were measured. Decay time constants demonstrate thermal stability with a deviation of about 10μs at 77-300K temperature range and are equal to 157μs at 585nm excitation.
