Microwave assisted synthesis and antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of dimers of 1,2,3-triazole-benzofuran bearing alkyl spacer derivatives

Abstract An efficient and convenient approach for the microwave-assisted synthesis of dimers of 1,2,3-triazole-benzofuran bearing alkyl spacer derivatives 7a-j through intermediate, bis-1,2,3-triazoles carrying alkyl spacer compounds 5a-e has been developed in excellent yields. Antimicrobial and antioxidant activities were tested for all the synthesized compounds. Among them, compoubd 7b showed potent antibacterial activity against gram positive bacteria, Where as another compound 7j exhibited potent antioxidant activity through DPPH method.
