On allocation policies in systems with dependence structure and random selection of components

In recent research, one of the major focus on redundancy allocation problems has been on the possibility of using allocative components randomly selected from a heterogeneous population consisting of m different subpopulations. Under this setup, most of these works assume that the components within each subpopulation are independent. Here, we consider systems comprising n possibly dependent subsystems with independent or dependent components. Then we provide sufficient conditions on the number of components randomly chosen from the heterogeneous population in order to improve the reliability of the whole system. In addition, we present illustrative numerical results for different copula functions and marginal lifetime distributions.
