Synthesis and investigation on electrochemical storage performance of Monoclinic CePO4 nanorods

Abstract Here, monoclinic CePO4 nanorods is synthesized and firstly evaluated as a novel anode of Li-ions batteries (LIBs). The results illustrate that the obtained CePO4 nanorods can be inserted up to 7.4Li+ per formula unit in the first discharge and 2.8Li+ can be extracted reversibly in the range of 0.01 ~ 3.0 V. A reversible capacity of 335/301 mAh g−1 is achieved after 100/500 cycles at a current density of 0.5/1.0 mA cm−2, respectively. The capacitive contribution to the total charge storage is also analyzed. The results are important in further clarifying CePO4 role in LIBs.
