Derivation of preliminary DCGL for Kori Unit 1 using RESRAD-OFFSITE and comparison with RESRAD-ONSITE

Abstract The successful decommissioning of nuclear facilities requires the derivation of DCGL in accordance with national site release criteria. MARSSIM, a widely used decommissioning guideline, recommends that a probabilistic analysis should be performed to derive the DCGL, which can be done by using the RESRAD code. Among the RESRAD codes, the RESRAD-OFFSITE code is the latest software edition and can derive exposure dose of receptor located both on and off-site. In this study, the preliminary exposure dose and DCGL were obtained by using the RESRAD-OFFSITE code and compared with the results obtained by the RESRAD-ONSITE code. As a result of the analysis, it was found that some radionuclides exhibited similar exposure doses and DCGL values, whereas a deviation is observed in a few cases. In this study, the applicability of the RESRAD-OFFSITE code to the decommissioning was investigated, and the similarities and differences with the RESRAD-ONSITE code were analyzed.
