Luminescent characteristics of a single-phase warm white-light-emitting phosphor Ba3Lu4O9:Dy3+ with excellent thermal stability

A series of novel Ba3Lu4O9:Dy3+ white-light-emitting phosphors were synthesized via the conventional solid-state reaction, and their phase purity and luminescence properties were investigated in detail. The results revealed that all the samples could be excited effectively by near-ultraviolet light, and three prominent emission bands centered at 491 nm, 580 nm and 673 nm were observed. The emission intensity of the as-synthesized phosphor at 423 K remained about 88.3% of that at 298 K. The Ba3Lu3.84O9:0.16Dy3+ phosphor possessed a warm-white emission and low CCT of 3730 K. All the results indicated that the phosphors were promising candidates for warm-white LEDs.
