A privacy-preserving protocol for continuous and dynamic data collection in IoT enabled mobile app recommendation system (MARS)

User trust is the most important factor in the success of the IoT based recommendation system. This trust can be eroded in many ways but the most basic of them is through hacking attacks during data transmission or perform beyond the scope processing on the collected data. Existing studies have presented different privacy-preservation schemes to ensure the privacy of specific data and require strict assumptions which include a private/secure communication channel between client-server and third-party authentication. These issues can be mitigated through our proposed Reversible Data Transform (RDT) algorithm based privacy-preserving data collection protocol which ensures the privacy preservation against beyond the scope processing and it does not require a private channel and third-party authentication assumptions. Due to group formation, the disclosure probability of the internal disclosure attack will not be greater than 1/k. Similarly, the reversible privacy-preserving data mining approach protects beyond the scope processing. The experimentation on datasets advocates the good performance of the proposed protocol in the mobile app recommendation system (MARS) while considering its counterparts.
