In 2020, Editor‐in‐Chief at Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology (AIBP) kindly suggested a Special Issue covering a scope of gene silencing and fungal pathogens to control insect pests. Per this recommendation, I, as Guest Editor, invited most significant seven papers based on this topic and scientific quality, finally bring a new feature to AIBP. The invited papers in this special issue will be unlocked for a period of 3 months on this journal homepage. Each selected paper will be promoted via the Entomology social media platforms at Wiley. The first article, “RNA interference for insecticidal activity in Small Brown Planthopper, Laodelphax striatellus by using dsRNAs targeting buprofezine‐specific genes” reports a high feasibility of dsRNA in the paddy field planthopper control. The second article, “Increased survival of honeybee Apis mellifera infected with microspordian Nosema ceranae by effective gene silencing” describes that the RNAi technique could be effectively used in an industrial insect production. Additional four papers cover the use of entomopathogenic fungi in pest management, particularly focusing on mitochondrial evolution, mode of action, natural transmission, and field application. Last article reports the gut microbiota in agricultural insect pest, walking stick, which could be controlled by entomopathogenic fungi. All these papers pave a way to explore physiological phenomena in insects which experience microbial or other signals. This Special Issue aims to be published in AIBP and allow our readers to easily access the most impactful content. AIBP will advertise this Special Issue on the journal homepage. We welcome your commentaries on this issue and hope you will find it beneficial for our community.
