Distinguished kinases: We describe the design, engineering and characterisation of a fluorescent peptide biosensor derived from 6‐phosphofructokinase, that reports on CDK6 kinase activity in vitro and in lung cancer cell extracts. Implementation of this biosensor in mesothelioma cell lines derived from patients highlights differences between CDK6 kinase activity and closely related CDK4 kinase activity.
