Temperature-regulated Seaweed Fibers Based on MPCMs Using Binary System of Butyl Stearate/Hexadecanol

Higher coating rate and larger enthalpy value of phase change materials (PCMs) are the key content of temperature-regulated textile. The warming impact of traditional temperature-regulated textiles, namely no microencapsulated phase change materials (MPCMs) loading, is impermanent. In this paper, a high-efficiency heat storage and thermo-regulated MPCMs based on butyl stearate (BS)/hexadecanol (HD) binary system was synthesized successfully. It is found that the MPCMs take on spherical shape, as well as relatively uniform particle size. The mean particle size of MPCMs with smooth and compact surface is 1.755 um. Moreover, the phase change temperature of the MPCMs varied from 21.06 °C to 27.33 °C, and the latent heat of MPCMs was up to 73.78 J/g. A new type of intelligent textile material, namely temperature-regulated seaweed fibers were obtained by using wet spinning process adopting the resulted MPCMs. As a result, the MPCMs endows the seaweed fibers good temperature-regulated property.
