On the Formation of Metal Interlayers in the Diamond–(Ti,W)C–WC–Co Composite

Abstract

The stability conditions for metal interlayers at the diamond/(Ti,W)C–WC–Co matrix interface have been grounded and the critical interlayer sizes have been obtained depending on the composition and structure of the composite. The results of the research can be used to develop the technology that ensures the existence of metal interlayers at the diamond/(Ti,W)C–WC–Co interface, which allows for the relaxation of the stress between the diamond particles and the matrix, ensures strong retention of diamond particles by the matrix, and increases the service life of products made of the diamond–(Ti,W)C–WC–Co composite.
