Propagation properties of the rotating elliptical chirped Gaussian beam in uniaxial crystals orthogonal to the optical axis

An analytical expression of the rotating elliptical chirped Gaussian (RECG) beam in uniaxial crystals orthogonal to the optical axis has been derived. The uniaxial crystals considered here are the tourmaline, the quartz and the fictional crystal. The rotating dynamics, the gradient force and the scattering force of the beam in these uniaxial crystals have been investigated analytically. We have separately and detailly discussed these two optical forces in transverse and longitudinal directions. Besides, the effects of the extraordinary refractive index, the chirped factors of the RECG beam have also been studied in details. Results indicate that we can control the rotation velocity by setting different combinations of the chirped factors or by adopting diverse extraordinary refractive index. The positions of the biggest scattering force, the values and directions of the gradient force can also be modulated by changing the chirped factors and the extraordinary refractive index.
