Inside Front Cover: The study by Xu Yan et al highlights that atmospheric pressure plasmas (APPJ) are effective in neuroprotection and elucidate the underlying mechanisms. It is shown that oxygen and glucose deprivation (OGD) induced neuronal cell injuries, which is a major pathological process during ischemic stroke, can be ameliorated by appropriate APPJ treatment via upregulating NO production and inhibiting mitochondrial apoptosis pathway.
