Continuous-wave mode-locked Tm:YAG laser with GaAs-based SESAM

Abstract Passive mode-locked laser operation at 2012 nm based on Tm:YAG and GaAs-based saturable absorber mirrors is demonstrated. Continuous-wave mode-locking performance was observed, resulting in a pulse width of 47.9 ps and 117 mW average output power at 97.7 MHz. The mode-locked laser exhibits an excellent stability with a remarkably high extinction ratio of 72 dB above carrier.
