Quantification of Seismic Performance Factors for Ductile Vierendeel Steel Truss Moment Frames

ABSTRACT

This study is focussed on the collapse performance assessment of steel truss moment frames (STMFs) with Vierendeel panels. The main parameters varied in this numerical study are the height of structures, bay width, aspect ratio of special segments, and number of ductile panels within the special segments. Incremental dynamic analyses are performed on twenty number of STMF archetypes having the overall height and aspect ratio of special segments exceeding the limiting values recommended in the current design codes. Based on findings of this study, seismic performance factors, namely, overstrength factor, response modification factor, and deflection amplification factor for STMFs are recommended.
