A novel algorithm to compute 3D phase center

ABSTRACT Existing phase center evaluation methods are based on various approximations of the phase of the electric field, thus leads to a systematic error. Given the phases measured at some far-field points, this paper proposes to compute the projected phases on a sphere and minimize the range of these projected phases by the polytope algorithm to determine the phase center. Without any approximation in the formulas, the proposed method is more accurate than existing methods, which is shown by a dipole simulated with the Method of Moment (MoM), a horn and a waveguide slot array measured in an anechoic chamber.
