Kidney vetch (Anthyllis vulneraria L.) is an almost forgotten medicinal plant, which is gaining increasing demand as herbal raw material, potentially applicable in cosmetic or phytomedicinal preparations. Since studies providing a profound overview on A. vulneraria constituents are still scant, the particular focus of the full paper presented here was laid on a detailed profiling of secondary metabolites of this plant species. The picture illustrates an image of Anthyllis flowers, surrounded by the chemical structures of the most important analyzed metabolites. By using LC/MS‐ and GC/MS‐techniques characteristic marker compounds of different polarities, such as flavonoid glycosides, saponins, as well as small phenolics and carboxylic acid derivatives, were assigned as reported by Lorenz et al. in their full paper at 10.1002/cbdv.202000485. The study may widen the knowledge on the phytochemistry of the Fabaceae (legume) family and offers analytical approaches for the characterization and authentication of herbal preparations obtained from kidney vetch.
