Superficial fungal infections of the skin, nails, hair and mucocutaneus membranes are common(1, 2) and the treatment depends on the aetiology.Treatment options include e.g. azoles, allylamines, and polyenes(3).Antifungal resistance isan increasing world‐wideproblem possibly caused by anincreased use of antifungals both as prophylactic and empiric therapy in a medical care setting as well as through their increased use in agriculture(1). Recently, a study demonstrated terbinafine resistance in Denmark and hypothesized thatthe use of over‐the‐counter (OTC) antifungals may be partly responsible(4).
