Synthesis of novel bio-composite by powder processing: an assessment

ABSTRACT This experimental study presents the development of a novel bio-composite with a process of utilization of waste chicken egg shells. The objective of work is to identify the effect of processing of coconut jute fiber, gelatin and chicken egg shells relating its influence on mechanical and micro structural properties bio-composite created. Cold powder processing was used to establish the effect of gelatin in gel form on coconut jute-egg shell bio-composite. Coconut jute fiber reinforced egg shell composites were analyzed using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-ray, X-ray diffraction, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and physical properties for density, Shore-D hardness, water, and steam absorption rate. Obtained results suggest a possibility to utilize waste chicken egg shells as an environment friendly composite which exhibits valuable characteristics.
