Voice Coil Actuated (VCA) Engine Mount for Vibration Reduction in Automobile

The purpose of this paper is to design and test the voice coil actuated (VCA) engine mount for vibration reduction in automobile. Due to the VCA engine mount generates a counter force to cancel the abnormal vibration generated when the variable cylinder is working, it is widely known one of the effective methods for reducing vibration delivered by the engine. To reduce the vibration efficiently, the VCA engine mount needs to have fast response, wide range of frequency and large excitation force. In this research, we present a VCA engine mount. Lumped parameter modeling and analysis of the VCA engine mount is performed to theoretical analysis. The dynamic performance of the VCA engine mount such as magnetic force, spring force, displacement and excitation force was verified by finite element analysis (FEA). After manufacturing a prototype, excitation force is experimentally investigated.
