Glycine ionic liquid functionalized β-cyclodextrin polymer high-performance liquid chromatography for the separation/analysis of pyrethroids

Abstract The green glycine ionic liquid functionalized β-cyclodextrin polymer material (AAIL-β-CDCP) was synthesized and characterized with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM). A novel method of solid phase extraction (SPE) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for separaton/detection of pyrethroids (permethrin and fenpropathrin) was established. Pyrethroids were rapidly adsorbed on AAIL-β-CDCP and desorbed with methanol. Under the optimized conditions, The linear ranges of permethrin and fenpropathrin were 0.025–20.00 µg mL−1 and 0.03–25.00 µg mL−1, the limits of detection (LOD) of permethrin and fenpropathrin were 0.020 µg mL−1 and 0.023 µg mL−1, the pre-enrichment ratios of permethrin and fenpropathrin were 12.0 and 14.0 (solution volume/elution volume before extraction), respectively . AAIL-β-CDCP could be used repeatedly for 10 times. The adsorption mechanism of permethrin and fenpropathrin on AAIL-β-CDCP was studied with the kinetic model and the interaction of AAIL-β-CDCP and pyrethroids. This proposed method had been successfully applied to the detection of pyrethroids in tea and tomato samples with the recovery was 92.0–100.6% and the RSD was 2.1–4.2%. Graphical Abstract
