Imaging cells with ionic liquids: Hydrated, unfixed mammalian cells adhered to laser‐modified nanostructured titanium substrates were observed by SEM after specialized ionic liquid treatment. The rapid and easy protocol using 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate as an ionic liquid, with dilution in culture medium, fulfills a niche need to study cellular interactions with biomaterials having submicron surface features.
