Joint Tx Power Allocation and Rx Power Splitting for SWIPT Systems With Battery Status Information

This letter studies the joint transmit (tx) power allocation and receive (rx) power splitting scheme for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) systems. To solve the battery depletion problem, the receivers' battery status information (BSI) is proposed to be taken into account in our scheme. With the BSI, constraints on the feasible maximum received data rate and harvested energy at receivers are newly induced. The proposed scheme is formulated as an optimization problem to maximize the sum-rate with the rate/energy requirement constraints and the newly induced constraints. To solve the optimization problem, the receivers are firstly classified according to their battery levels, then the optimal solutions are derived by the proposed alternative optimization technique-based algorithm. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed scheme can prolong the battery lifetime and avoid the receivers being to power off.
