On Equivalent Circuits of Low-Power High-Frequency Induction Motors Powered by Transistor Frequency Converters

Abstract

Brief information on the features of equivalent circuits of low-power high-frequency induction motors (HFIMs) powered by nonsinusoidal voltage from a transistor frequency converter (TFC) is presented. It is shown that the difference between active and inductive resistance in the magnetizing branch of the HFIM equivalent circuit for the fundamental harmonic of the voltage applied to the HFIM is less than in induction motors (IMs) powered by a 50 Hz voltage. Therefore, significant errors occur if the active resistance of the magnetizing branch is not taken into account when analyzing and calculating the TFC–HFIM system.
