Abstract

We try to present on the elementary level a popular subject of the mathematical physics. The subject begins with the famous paper by E. Witten “Quantum field theory and the Jones polynomial”. We also discuss the role of topological methods in other problems of theoretical physics, in more classical as well as in problems that are more modern. The text is addressed to all who finds the topic interesting.
