Electric-field induced micromagnetic structural elements motion in thin ferrite garnet films

Abstract We report direct magneto-optical measurements in epitaxial films of bismuth-substituted ferrite garnets that shown the magnetic domain walls can be reversibly changed under an electric field due to the magneto-electric effect. Electric field-induced bending or elongation of domain walls local areas was observed by us using the method of optical polarimetry. Upon removal of the electric field, the domain walls of the magnetic film return to their original configuration.
