Vanishing vacuum energy

Abstract The vacuum energy problem arises because quantum fields fluctuate even at the absolute zero of temperature. These “zero-point” ( T = 0 ) vacuum fluctuations have non-zero energy. Since in general relativity all types of energy generate the space-time curvature, vacuum energy must enter the Einstein field equation as a source term. Here I find that vacuum energy is zero if and only if the vacuum equation of state embodies relativistic invariance.
