Study of Neutrons Produced in the Interaction of Muon Antineutrinos in the ND280 near Neutrino Detector of the T2K Experiment

Abstract

Neutrons produced during scattering of muon antineutrinos through charged currents in the ND280 near neutrino detector of the T2K experiment are studied. Based on Monte-Carlo simulations of the beam of accelerator antineutrinos with an energy of ~0.6 GeV, the kinematics of the quasi-elastic interaction is reconstructed. Energy and angular distributions of neutrons are obtained, their detection efficiency is calculated using a method accounting for the particle time of flight.
