The effect of nanoparticles with KCL salt on rheological and filtrate properties of water-based drilling fluid: experimental analysis

The novel composition of bentonite mud was engineered to illustrate considerable viscosity properties under high temperature up to 150°C. In this research, the effect of nanoparticles, namely silicon dioxide (SiO2), titanium dioxide (TiO2), unfunctionalized and functionalized multiwall carbon nanotubes (UMWCNTs), (FMWCNTs) in different concentrations (0.01, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.5 wt. %) on the rheological and filtration attributes of bentonite mud was evaluated. Results indicated that yield point property increases with the increment of FMWCNTs concentrations up to 123% in 60°C. Filtration test presented favorite reduction and thinner mud cake were created by using FMWCNTs under normal and high temperature up to 150°C.
