A scientific career, especially an academic one, can be very challenging. Early career researchers (ECRs) face a distinct set of obstacles that can be difficult to overcome without additional support. The need for publications in respected journals and increased competition for funding, often against established researchers, are just some of the issues encountered. Despite increased awareness of these problems over the past decade, the challenges associated with establishing a successful scientific career remain. Therefore, ECRs are starting to join forces in order to articulate their concerns with one voice and find solutions for their particular needs. In this article, we introduce a new initiative from the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS), the young EFIS (yEFIS) Task Force, which aims to connect and support ECRs throughout Europe in the field of immunology.
