Abstract The present study aimed to test the direct and moderating roles of gratitude on Latino adolescent mental health (i.e., depressive symptoms and life satisfaction). Further, informed by the stress process framework, the present study tested the direct associations between several social stressors and resources (i.e., perceived discrimination, positive parenting, and peer social support) and Latino adolescent mental health. The sample comprised of 260 9th grade students who took part in a school-based randomized control trial of a gratitude intervention (Mage = 14.40, SDage = 0.60, 48.8% female). The analyses were based on cross-sectional data from the baseline assessment. Gratitude, positive parenting, peer social support, and discrimination were independently associated with Latino youth mental health. There was some limited support for gratitude as a moderator between positive parenting and depressive symptoms. These results have implications for prevention and intervention efforts to improve Latino youth mental health.
