The vibration suppression of cable with self-excitation in parallel cable-driven regulating system

Abstract This paper derives a control solution for mitigation of Parametrically excited vibration of taut cable in cable-truss couple system, which ensures safe and stable regulation for cable towards the desired patterns. The dynamic characteristics with periodic perturbation and the parametrically excited instability of cable are both analyzed; the physical factors of damping influence on the cable are investigated and demonstrated. Based on the linear quadratic regulator principle (LQR), the optimal control algorithms are presented, which play an effective role in suppressing the the vibration distribution and improving significantly the transverse stability of the inclined cable system. The simulation results demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the presented control method.
