Abstract

The possibility of using composite films based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Na-carboxymethylcellulose (Na-CMC) as a separating material is considered for nickel-zinc and silver-zinc batteries. The sorption properties and porous structure of PVA/Na-CMC composite films treated with potassium hydroxide, as well as the electrochemical characteristics of nickel-zinc battery cells (open circuit voltage, average discharge voltage, charge retention) were investigated. The fundamental possibility of using PVA/Na-CMC composite films instead of a cellulose hydrate film is shown as a separating material for nickel-zinc and silver-zinc batteries.
