Rising the Efficiency of the Isoprene Bulk Polymerization Apparatuses

Abstract

The field of temperatures and conversions in the catalytic process of bulk polymerization of isoprene in apparatuses with a fixed bed of the reaction mixture (polymerization forms) has been studied theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that in an apparatus with a thin layer (3 mm high) the process temperature regime is close to isothermal. In an apparatuses with a higher layer (6 mm high), the approach to isothermal conditions and a corresponding rise in the apparatus productivity is achieved by a stepwise increase in the wall temperature at the time of the drop in the temperature curve of the polymerization. A computational and experimental method is proposed for determining the current conversion of the monomer from the measured values of the current temperature of the reaction mixture.
