Cover : Crop‐raiding Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata ). Populations of macaques and other large terrestrial animals, such as sika deer (Cervus nippon ), have rebounded following depopulation of rural areas in Japan and resulted in an increase in human‐wildlife conflict. Such conflicts may be alleviated by aggregation of human‐use areas in a land‐sharing approach. See Tsunoda and Enari (pages 819‐828). “Challenges of and Solutions to Human‐Wildlife Conflicts in Agricultural Landscapes, a special section in this issue, features this and other articles pertinent to the goal of human and wildlife coexistence.

Photographer : Jasper Doest creates visual stories that explore the relationship between humankind and nature. Having majored in ecology, Doest knows human life depends on everything the planet has to offer, yet he recognizes the unsustainable nature of the current patterns of human consumption. As a true believer in the power of photography to initiate change, Doest is an International League of Conservation Photographers senior fellow and a World Wildlife Fund ambassador. He is also a contributing photographer for National Geographic magazine and has received awards from World Press Photo and Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

Use of this issue's cover photograph is made possible by a partnership between the Society for Conservation Biology and the International League of Conservation Photographers (ConservationPhotographers.org). The mission of iLCP is to translate conservation science into compelling visual messages targeted to specific audiences. The iLCP works with leading scientists, policy makers, government leaders, and conservation groups to produce the highest quality documentary images of both the beauty and wonder of the natural world and the challenges facing it. The members of iLCP have proven a commitment to conservation action, superior photographic skills, and the highest ethical standards.

参见Tsunoda和Enari(第819-828页)。

通过保护生物学协会和国际保护摄影师联盟(ConservationPhotographers.org)的合作,可以使用本期的封面照片。
