Abstract It is very important for high photo-thermal conversion efficiency (HPTCE) that the optical property analysis, the contour map and optimized design of multilayer films for solar selective absorber are simulated and studied. With HPTCE of more than 96.38%, one SiO2/Cr/SiO2/Cr multilayer film fabricated by unbalance sputtering deposition method agrees well with the simulation result in the area of the contour maps.
