Abstract This article proposes a thrust equation model of two-degree-of-freedom oscillatory actuator considering its edge effect. The proposed thrust equation model clarifies that asymmetric permanent magnet flux linkage and inductance characteristics cause undesirable magnetic thrust and reluctance thrust, respectively.
