Emergency management systems after disastrous earthquakes using optimization methods: A comprehensive review

Considering the continuous growth of optimization methods and its importance to Emergency Management (EM) systems, this review paper introduces and discusses the recent developments of EM systems after disastrous earthquakes using optimization techniques. Based on a systematic process, we classified a diverse set of selected papers into four main categories: (i) Emergency Response Planning, (ii) Mass Evacuation, (iii) Shelter Location, and (iv) Facility Location. The main purpose is to help decision-makers to have a general overview of the state-of-the-art application of optimization methods for EM systems. In addition, it is expected that this review paper will be helpful to new researchers when identifying research directions in this field.
