Abstract The fossil Palaeonteoninae (Hymenoptera: Dryinidae) are reviewed. Keys to the species of this subfamily are presented. Palaeoanteon cenomanianum sp. nov., is described from mid-Cretaceous Kachin (Burmese) amber of northern Myanmar. The genus Palaeoanteon and the subfamily Palaeoanteoninae are reported for the first time from Burmese amber. Palaeoanteon janzeni, from Priabonian Baltic and Rovno amber, is revised. Palaeoanteon appears to be the third dryinid genus known from more than two different amber faunas (after Dryinus and Bocchus). The phylogenetic significance of this discovery and the composition of the Cretaceous and Eocene amber dryinid faunas are discussed.
