Controllable abrupt focusing of a ring Pearcey–Gaussian beam in nonlocally defocusing nonlinear media

The dynamics of the inward-focusing ring Pearcey–Gaussian (PeG) beam are investigated in nonlocally defocusing nonlinear media. The propagation of inward-focusing ring PeG beams exhibits an anomalous abrupt focusing behavior, which is also controllable by carefully adjusting the degree of the nonlocality. Interestingly, the position of the focus spot changes exponentially with the amplitude of the beam. Such findings have benefits for optical tweezers in nonlinear regimes.
