Abstract
The results of repeated processing of magnetic measurements carried out on the Foton M-2 satellite (which was in orbit from May 31 to June 16, 2005) are described. The processing was performed in order to reconstruct the uncontrolled rotational motion of this satellite. In re-processing, the mathematical model of rotational motion was used, which is simpler, than that used in processing, performed shortly after the flight. Simplifications were done in such a way, that the new model corresponded to the models, used by V.V. Beletsky in his theoretical analysis of the evolution of uncontrolled rotational motion of a satellite in the case in which this motion was close to the regular Euler’s precession of an axisymmetric solid body. The results of processing the measurements, carried out during 14 short (4.5–5 h) time intervals, are directly compared with the evolutionary equations arising in Beletsky’s theory. This allowed us to interpret the evolution of the rotational motion of the Foton M-2 and to explain the origin of the motion regime that was established at the end of the flight.中文翻译:
