Abstract

The records of 15 species of blackflies (Diptera: Simuliidae) in the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania are given. Prosimulium anatoliense and Simuliumdelizhanense are recorded from Russia for the first time, and Prosimulium gigas, Metacnephia nigra, Simulium maritimum, S. angustatum, S. bezzii, S. monticola, S.schamili, and S. subtile are new to North Ossetia. The work is based on the authors’ original material collected in Prigorodny, Alagir, and Irafsky districts of North Ossetia in 2016–2019.
